It was MLK day and I didn't have to work, Scott did. I went to Lowe's and bought a few things, went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. I had eaten my salad and was so looking forward to eating my chili but my stomach started hurting. I didn't think too much about it because I had been plagued with heartburn my entire pregnancy. But, I did sit and imagine what everyone in the restaurant would do if my water broke while I was there.
Once I got back home, my mother-in-law came over to help me get Joshua's room together. It was around 3:00 and we were putting sheets on the crib when my water did break. I called my doctor and they told me to come in and get checked out. I called Scott and told him I was going, he needed to get off work and meet me at the hospital. I arrived at the doctor's office right around 5:00 and was in L&D around 6:00. Soon after, Scott arrived...he was nervous and took his time getting there, going home to change clothes, going to Burger King to eat.
I'm not sure when I got my epidural but that is the part that I feared the most...I just don't like needles. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined and I felt pretty darn good after it...except it made my legs jerk a lot...Contractions started getting a little stronger, nothing unbearable. It was a few minutes before 10:00 when the hard work started, Scott forgot how to count and was getting his numbers all mixed up but at least he didn't faint or anything and I didn't scream or cuss like some people do on tv...I was actually pretty proud of us...
It was 10:21 when Joshua entered our world and our hearts.
Today, we had a small party with a few of his school friends and tonight, we went to Red Robin for dinner. It was a super good day.
Happy Birthday Joshua!
