Joshua and I spent the weekend in Litchfield, just south of Myrtle Beach, with Mimi (my mom). We had a terrific time and Joshua has become such a water horse. Just picture breakfast, beach, pool, dinner, bed with a sprinkling of Candy Land and books, then repeat, and you have summed up our entire weekend.
At the beach, Joshua had a great time boogieing (and yes, according to dictionary.com, this is really a word) on his boogie board. He seemed to have no fear, not even when wiping out in the waves. At the pool, we went from big pool to lazy river to kiddie pool. I imagine we went around the lazy river 2,065 times this weekend. He kept his lifejacket on and floated while Mimi and I rode in the tubes. Other than than the trip from the beach to the pool, one bathroom break and the moving from one pool to the other, Joshua was not out of the water from 10am until 3pm one day and 11am until 4pm the next.
I was really excited to find a live conch one day, whom we named George and kept in a bucket of sand and water for about an hour before returning him to the sea. We saw two jellyfish in the water...Joshua was then ready to leave the beach and go to the pool...We saw an alligator, whom Joshua named Allie, outside the Lazy Gator gift shop. And, we looked at turles, hermit crabs and sharks in the junk stores.
I would say it was a terrific weekend, and I think Joshua and Mimi would agree...we did miss daddy though...Scott had already planned to go with a friend on a fishing trip. Hopefully, next time he can join us.

breakfast with Spongebob....er...Spiderman!
Adventure Landing in Raleigh has been having character breakfasts this summer. Scheduled to attend is Dora, Spongebob, Spiderman and Curious George. Since Joshua is "all about some Spongebob" right now, I bought tickets to eat breakfast, attend a meet and greet and one activity (they have minature golf, go-karts, etc.). The Spongebob breakfast was some time in June. Unfortunately, I forgot about it until the next day. I figured since we missed Spongebob that we were just out of luck, but, fortunately, Adventure Landing was kind enough to call me to tell me that we didn't attend and that they could transfer our tickets to another character. So, Spiderman, here we come. I didn't tell Joshua that I forgot...I just told him that we would be eating with Spiderman because Spongebob wasn't going to be there...not really a lie, just a stretch of the truth.

sniff sniff
Mommy, I think about you when I am in school.
You do? I think about you too when you are in school.
What do you think?
I think about how much fun you are having with your friends, how much new stuff you are learning about, how much of a big boy you are.
You know what I think?
No, what do you think.
I think how much I love you...

OK, I officially love the Jump Zone
Once again, Thursday afternoon, it's been too hot to play outside, I've been too busy with work to play with Joshua, I decide we should go to the Jump Zone. Joshua is all for it. Tonight, it wasn't too busy at all, which was good and bad. Good because it wasn't rowdy and crowded, bad because Joshua couldn't find a group to run with. He tried a couple of times but it just didn't stick. He kept running to me to "sit with you for a while." Finally, the owner's sons arrive...they are, just guessing, 7 and 9? This is the second time we have been on a Thursday evening and the second time we have seen the boys there...If my parents owned a place like Jump Zone, I think I would go a lot too...Anyway, I don't know why, but the youngest boy hooked up with Joshua and Joshua had the best time. They would slide, run around playing tag, play air hockey. I don't remember if I mentioned it, but last time we were there, I was playing air hockey with Joshua and one of the sons offered to "play with him if I wanted him too," which I thought was sweet. In a way, it made me wonder if the owner has told them to "help out" other kids who may be playing alone...or maybe they are just well-mannered, nice kids. Oh, and tonight, the owner gave Joshua a Jump Zone t-shirt. He was supposed to have gotten one at his birthday party, but he didn't...not sure how the conversation started tonight but, he did get his shirt. Joshua put the shirt on as soon as we got in the car.

What a rip!
Joshua just spent a very good week in Tennessee with his Mimi (my mom). More about that later...
What a rip! That is Joshua's new favorite phrase. Where did it come from? I have never used that phrase, I've never heard Scott use that phrase, I don't recall Spongebob or Patrick or Mr Krabbs or Squidward using that phrase...and that is where most of Joshua's things come from these days...like oh barnacles! and oh tarter sauce! when things don't quiet go his way...but what a rip!?
Oh well, I'll update with more later...
